Whooping Cough

Age range babies and adults (children require adult guardian for consent)

Suspect whooping cough infection as identified by low grade fever, runny or stuffy nose, fits of coughing, whoop sound when breathing in, apnea and/or cyanosis (more common in babies)

Cannot have symptoms more than 2 weeks to enroll in study

Cannot already be on antibiotic Bactrim, Tetracyclines, Macrolides, or Fluoroquinolones

One study visit involved with nasal swab and nasal wash to collect specimens.
